Dear friends,
I am pleased to announce that the Yachana Foundation will be hosting the third annual conference for Teach A Man To Fish, an organization based in the UK whose vision aims for all individuals throughout the world to be able to enjoy the empowering benefits of an education that meets their needs. This year's theme is "Income Generation for Education." Yachana Technical High School shares these principles and is empowering disadvantaged youth with a quality education combined with hands-on training to increase their financial self-sufficiency and improve their environment.
Hosting this conference at Yachana Lodge (http://www.yachana.com) from December 8 – 10 will be a great opportunity for Yachana. It will showcase us as an example of a school working toward self-sustainability. It will also bring a sense of pride to the students and the local Amazon communities. We will be able to enrich ourselves by learning and sharing ideas with people from over 20 countries who will be present at the conference.
I would like to invite you to read more about Teach A Man To Fish's work and information about the conference (http://www.teachamantofish.org.uk/conference/), where we share our mutual vision: Meaningful education is the key to reversing generations of poverty, raising environmental awareness and ensuring the sustainable use of the region's natural resources.
As we continue to grow and develop I want to say how important your ongoing support is. Whether it is through donations, volunteer work or spreading awareness about Yachana's work, each of you are part of our success.
Thanks,
Douglas
